Decades, Not Days
Today's culture is fast paced. Our minds are working at a frenetic pace. Technology and artificial intelligence continue to push our speed, our thinking, and our efficiencies to new limits. We find ourselves inside a matrix that demands quick decision-making. We are tempted, if not coerced, into light speed short-term thinking in an age of smartphones, bitcoin, and social media influencers. We observe all of this without prejudice or a longing for the past; it’s just how we behave in the modern world.
Investing Should Exercise Long-Term Muscles
Investing need not embrace the spasmatic myopia of today’s culture. We firmly believe sound investing looks into the distant horizon and thinks long-term. It’s not as easy or romantic as it might sound; it’s damn tough to keep a long-term mindset! We are human after all. Today and the next day can seem uncertain, uncomfortable, and unsettling. Yet, despite the demands of now, true investing begs us to chart a course not days, but decades into the future.
Financial Planning is what we do. It’s a continuous process that we perform to unite client goals and dreams with a strategy to achieve and sustain a lifestyle of your choice. It is the strongest and best tool we have in our toolchest to be forward thinking. Financial Planning is more akin to a compass than a GPS in that we cannot, nor do we attempt to, pinpoint the future. Instead, we employ possibilities and probabilities using academically sound research, history, and math to point us in the right direction and provide course corrections along the journey.
A New Core Value
If we balk at how the market behaved today or seem flippant about timing a trade, don’t take it as a dismissal. We understand the urge to think about now. But what we get paid to do is think deeply about decades in the future, not days. Accordingly, we are proud to announce that OnTrack Wealth Management is officially adopting “Decades, Not Days” as our newest core cultural value. We take this commitment seriously and want to canonize it so that this value occupies our daily routines and practices as fiduciaries to our clients.
